Fun Things To Do In Winter.

Morning walk on a Winter’s Day!

Winter, you make it so cold and dark outside. Really all I want to do is curl up on the couch and keep snug and warm. Whilst that is nice for a little while, I know I could be enjoying life more. I have to push myself to enjoy these Winter’s Days. This is my question: What are fun things to do in Winter?

Here are some of my ideas:
1. Cooking Adventures: Winter is a perfect time, to put the music on, put the oven on and start experimenting with new exciting dishes.

2. Reading time: What better time to snuggle in bed reading a book, or to simply curl up in an armchair with your book. I only have a heater, it would be so nice to have a

3. Go to the movies, It is warm, snug and even exciting. I love movies they are an awesome indoor activity.

4. Going out to restaurants and cafe’s, just catching up with family and friends.

5. Make a commitment, it doesn’t matter how cold or wet it is, I go out in the evenings to attend my Toastmasters club.

6. Coats I love my coats, being warm is important. I good selection of coats lets me dress for different occasions and still stay warm. It also helps me to rug up and go for a walk.

7. Sunday drives places still look pretty in Winter, and you can always stop somewhere for a warm coffee.

8. Finally winter festivals, exhibitions, and events. I check out local papers, what’s on websites like Weekend Notes, and local council calendar of events to see what is on in my area.

9. Do an online course or class and learn something new.

However I know I still like to stay tucked away inside, hibernating on my warm couch with the heater on, and the warm cup of tea in my hands. Here I am in search of fun things to do in Winter, to bring more energy and excitement into those Winter Day’s.

Getting out and doing stuff on a cold Winter’s Evening.

These long cold Winter’s Days certainly has a way of keeping people in doors especially during the evening time.  During summer everyone is out and about, there is a furry of activity in the neighbourhood. Whilst during the months of winter, the front yards and streets are deserted, there is hardly a sign of life. I guess many people do what I do ,stay home and hibernate. I am the first to admit, I spend way to much time indoors, and watch way too much television during the Winter months. It  is hard to get motivated to go out during the cold wet evenings. Last night, in the dark, with rain pelting down, I ventured out to go to a Toastmasters Speech Contest meeting. The hardest part was leaving the house, I kept thinking, do I really want to go out in that weather, after all it looked so cold and nasty. I did, and when I reached my destination, it was worth it. It was a really fun, and exciting night, just what I required to liven myself up. It reminded me how much I love learning as a part of being, and how much I enjoy listening to peoples stories. In-fact I connect to all the stories, and was able to identify and reflect upon my own life. Those stories energised me and got me thinking, about how the speech was being delivered,  also making connections to what was being said, and being curious about the person delivering the speech. No television show can engage  me as much as being in that audience listening to those stories. I am so glad I ventured out on that cold Winter’s Night. I constantly need to remind myself, to make the effort, rug up, and go somewhere and enjoy life!

Wishing you a wonderful day!

Flowers! One Way To Brighten A Winter’s Day.

Blankets of grey angry clouds have blanket the winter’s sky today. Although they threaten to open up with a down pour of water, they simply tease with small showers of rain and a cold ice breeze. I take refuge in the comfort of my home, with the delights of some red flowers and a small scented candle. In my cozy home I feel warmed by the cozy atmosphere, and a tiny flame that shines brightly in a room engulfed in the sweat soft sound of some classical music.

I never get tired of seeing flowers, they always lift my spirits and bring a sense of peace and joy to my home environment. In the winter months their bright colours cheer me up and bring warmth to my home. I sometimes think flowers are a necessity to living a beautiful life. I think I will start taking the advice of Bronnie Masefau the author of the book Australian Vintage Living and put them on the top of my shopping list.
Not much flowering in my garden at the moment, camellia’s budding and so excited about them adding a pop of colour to my dreary winter garden. Come on camellias pop out, brighten my days.
How do you bring colour to dreary winter days?
Wishing you all a wonderful day!
