Ten Blessings Of The Week!

IMG_0955

There is a cold chilly stillness outside, the clouds are still, and I can not feel a single breeze. I sense the morning is telling me to be still and write, that it is not to late to put this blog post out there. So I listen!

Life is so cold here in Melbourne, and I can not remember the last time Winter felt this cold. It is the type of Winter that requires layers of clothes, even hats, scarfs and coats. In saying that Winter is not that cold, that you can not go for a walk in nature, or get on with daily life. It just cold enough to require rugging up and putting the heating on.

The past week was a wonderful week and I felt much brighter than the past few weeks. This previous weeks Blessings Of The Week are as follows:

  1. I am so blessed for, sunshine, some fellow dog lovers to walk with and beautiful flowers of rosemary from my adventure walk this week, it was a gorgeous day for a walk and it really lifted my spirits.
  2. I am so blessed for my basket weaving with wild grasses workshop, my basket may not look that amazing but I just love it and really enjoyed the process of making it, and the company of the lovely ladies at the workshop.
  3. I am so blessed to have access to some free online learning about writing for young readers, I am learning so much, and created a second story so I feel like I am really achieving something from it.
  4. I am so blessed for Friday movie night with the boys, I just love this tradition.
  5. I am so blessed for the simple pleasure of my purple blanket to wrap around myself.
  6. I am so blessed for Hubby cooking a roast dinner on Saturday night.
  7. I am so blessed for a family day out to Cloudhill Nursery and Gardens. Beautiful magical gardens even in Winter, although I would love to go back in summer time.
  8. I am so blessed to be able to attend Yoga classes, really got to stretch my body out and relax. I always feel energised and relaxed after a Yoga class.
  9. I am so blessed that I could attend the dentist and have my broken tooth fixed, it is a costly and uncomfortable procedure, however at the end of the day I still get to keep my tooth. I am really happy about that.
  10. Finally, I am so blessed for the simple pleasure of some alone time to re-energize and relax.

Whilst this cold weather makes it easy for me to be a homebody and curl up in my chair with my blanket wrapped around me and catch up on some television series, at the moment I am watching Glitch and it is really weird. I get sucked in and just want to know what happens next.   I feel am also watching too much television.

Time to  wrap myself up in a blanket, curl up in my arm chair by the window, sip on a cup of coffee, take out my journal and write in the stillness of the morning.

Ten Blessings Of The Week!

IMG_0955

This previous week has been a true Winter’s week. It has required coats, boots and umbrella’s which I love.  However it has been so cold, especially early in the morning. I have enjoyed sleeping late, and not rushing about. Little Miss Popularity has enjoyed being indoors and sleeping on the couch.

The weeks Ten Blessings Of The Week were as follows:

  1. A brief morning of clear blue sky and sunshine to booster up my spirits.
  2. Lots of grey sky, rain, rain and more rain. Great for wearing boots, coats and even colourful scarves.
  3. Going on a wonderful excursion to Melbourne Aquarium with the boys.
  4. Having a delicious lunch of chocolate waffles and ice-cream plus hot chocolates, with the boys.
  5. Date night with Hubby, out for dinner at a lovely quiet Thai Restaurant.
  6. Red wine, it certainly the wine to drink in Winter time.
  7. Movie night with the boys, at home. This is one family tradition we enjoy every Friday night.
  8. Online writing class, finally I get to do a writing class and hopefully improve my writing and storytelling.
  9. Finally got a relaxing evening bath, so relaxing!
  10. My parents for looking after the boys for a few days, and for home made sausage rolls they made me.

Whilst the best thing has been in the garden, my Camellias are flowering, beautiful red and white flowers. They brighten up my day every time I look out the window at them.

Time to go wrap my self up in my purple blanket, curl up in the arm chair and have a nice hot cup of tea.

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Today is such a cold Winter’s grey sky day. School holidays continue and the boys just don’t want to get out of their beds. I am enjoying the slow pace, and relaxing way time is spent during the holidays. It is a time of rest and rejuvenation. Certainly my teenage boys take that to mean sleeping in until lunchtime.

Once again I have my Ten Blessings of the previous week, which are as follows:

  1. I am so blessed that my dentist appointment  was moved forward a couple of weeks. I have broken part of my tooth and was relieved to get a quick dentist appointment.
  2. I am so blessed that the dentist that treated young Mighty Mouse was so kind and patient, and helped him deal with the strange sensations of the equipment in his mouth. It was also good that his teeth were clean and in a healthy condition.
  3. I am so blessed to come across a free writing course on Coursera so I can learn more writing skills and improve my writing.
  4. I am so blessed for a adventure to the movies with the boys and see Inside Out. It was a lovely uplifting positive movie.
  5. I am so blessed that I found a place to buy discounted movie tickets, which made going to the movies affordable.
  6. I am so blessed that I got to go out on a Saturday night with Hubby, and no children. It good to have some adult time.
  7. I am blessed for the relaxing Friday night, dinner, wine and a movie with the boys.
  8. I am blessed for all the wonderful music I have to listen to that makes me feel so good.
  9. I am so blessed for the time I spent with my family having lunch on Sunday afternoon.
  10. Finally I am blessed for heating and a blanket to wrap around me keeping me so I keep snug and warm, and my journal to escape in.

I am so blessed that my son  Mr. Serious now makes me cups of teas and brings them to me in the lounge, so I can sip on them as I write my blog.

Life is full of happenings and joyful adventures, with a few challenges and days of hard work. So I have taken some time to reflect on the previous week and come up with ten things I feel blessed for.

  1. A lovely adventure walk in nature surrounded by suburbia, and yet it was so beautiful for the entire time I was there it was easy to forget that I was in suburbia.
  2. I enjoy a number of soulful painting classes, where I created a terrible painting however I totally enjoyed the process.
  3. I enjoyed going to my son’s school term work expo, and it was good to see his class project and celebrate.
  4. I loved burning candles and playing relaxing music.
  5. Movie night with Mighty Mouse, I so love Alice In Wonderland.
  6. My weekly yoga class, it is so relaxing and also so energising.
  7. Completing another speech from my speech manual for Toastmasters.
  8. I was delighted that Hubby cooked my breakfast on Sunday before I went to work. It was so yummy.
  9. Fresh Sheets, I just love them, they feel so good and resulted in the best nights sleep.
  10. Finally my boys for making their beds in their sort of boy way. Good enough to make happy.

Reflecting of my blessings in the previous week always reminds how good my life really is.

Now I am looking forward to this week. It is school holidays so I am sure to get up to some fun things with the boys.

Ten Blessings Of The Week!

Feeling grateful each day helps me make decisions from my happy place, I just know things will turn out alright, maybe not as I had anticipated but they will be alright and so will I. My Ten Blessings from the previous week are as follows:

  1. I am so blessed that I continue to smile each day.
  2. I am so blessed that I am able to have dinner each night with my family at the dinner table.
  3. I am so blessed for a comfy chair curl up in and a warm purple blanket to wrap myself in whilst I write in my journal each day.
  4. I am so blessed for a clean fluffy dog to listen to snoring in the evenings, and to accompany me on my long walks.
  5. I am so blessed for finding a great joke that I could tell and have some fun with at my Toastmasters Meeting.
  6. I am so blessed for my nice warm bed to sleep in at night, I am really enjoying it on these cold winters nights.
  7. I am so blessed to be able to have a family lunch out at the local hotel, it was a lovely Sunday lunch.
  8. I am so blessed that the boys still want to watch movies with me.
  9. I am so blessed for morning coffee that my husband brings to me in bed. I am so spoilt.
  10. I am so blessed that my son got a friendly dentist to pull out the piece of baby tooth left. No pain. Mighty Mouse was so brave and didn’t even feel it. Just soft food for a couple of days, and opportunity to have lots of soup.

It was a week that just unfolded beautifully, focused around family and the dog. Today Mighty Mouse has a day off school so we went and got a hot chocolate and caramel slice. His favourite.

Ten blessing reminds me to enjoy the simple things in life, and to notice the  little extravagances like going out for a meal or that caramel slice, so that I can enjoy them and not take them for granted.

My Brain Just Stayed In Bed.

“Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.”~Roger Miller

Today was one of those days when my body woke up however my brain just stayed in bed. The morning was unproductive, other than the ironing I don’t have a clue what I did with my time. Then after lunch I ventured out my front door to go for a walk and try to wake my brain up.  I noticed I had diligently  locked all the doors, unfortunately I left the keys inside on the bench. Now I was locked outside without any keys. The weather was delightful; cold, cloudy and raining. Yay, locked outside in the rain! I did not want to smile I just wanted to scream. At least I had my phone. I pulled myself together and  called  my husband for help, after all I had to pick the boys up from school in a couple of hours. He laughed at my stupidity, and then agreed to pick one of the boys up for me. So I had to go and pick Mighty Mouse up at his bus stop. I was super grateful that I was able to find an umbrella, so at least I could stay dry whilst I walked in the rain. It was sort of calming walking in the rain as I could  hear the rain gently taping on my umbrella. Once I got to the bus stop the rain had stopped. At the bus stop I told Mighty Mouse he had to walk home, he wasn’t impressed.  He just looked at me, and said,” You locked us out of the house. ” Then he shock his head with disgust. The bright side is that he got a good half hour of exercise. Finally after many hours of being out in the cold, my husband came home with Mr. Serious and let me back into the house. I was so grateful to be back in my nice warm house.

Some days are just like that nothing goes right. It didn’t feel good being locked out of my house in the cold wet weather. As I went for my very long, long walk. I felt a little sad. Then I thought, I might as well enjoy it, because it is going to turn out ok,  plus  I  really need to get some exercise.  Finally I  was grateful that at least I had my phone, my husband could come and save me, and I had an umbrella. It not always easy to find the bright sparkly bits of life when things  are going wrong, however finding something to be grateful for helps.

Now I sit here trying to write this post, whilst the dog soundly sleeps on the couch, snoring as loud as a freight train going past. It is so annoying! Then my son constantly interrupts needing help with his science homework. Finally I have completed it and hopefully my brain wakes up tomorrow morning and joins me for the day.

Ten Blessings of the Week!

IMG_0955

The weather has been cold and windy. So windy that  limbs of some trees have been blown down and scattered all over the park. The puddles are so big they consume the track, and I had been required to hike around them. Yet even though I complain about the cold days, there is a part I enjoy. Like rugging up in warm blankets as I sit on the couch, the warmth of the heater, and wearing warm clothes and coats. I love my coats, they make me feel cozy and warm. The best thing about Winter is how cosy it is in my bed, how easy it is to sleep on cold Winter’s nights. There is a lot to be grateful about this time of year.

Here are my Ten Blessings of the Week:

  1. I am so blessed for my wonderful collection of warm coats, that keep me warm every morning at the bus stop, that I can rug up in and venture outside in nature during these cold Winter’s days.
  2. I am so blessed that Mighty Mouse has wonderful teachers that provide with a lovely school environment to learn and grow. He received a glowing report, and it was a delight to hear about all the wonderful activities his class was involved in, and to see how his school work had improved.
  3. I am so blessed that I could open up all my windows and let the cold breeze blow through the house, freshening the house, and blowing out all those winter germs of the previous week. I love how a fresh breeze can blow away all the stale smells and germs, and bring a clear and uplifting energy into the house.
  4. I am so blessed that I got a lovely book on whimsical writing from the library to play with. I got to spend some time just getting lost in doing some fancy writing and simple pictures.
  5. I am so blessed that I got to spend a time out at my son’s Scout group on an activity they did at the local shopping centre. It was an interesting activity and it was good to be involved.
  6. I am so blessed for Friday movie night with the boys, it is becoming a ritual that we all look forward too. This time I came home put my pyjamas on, and made myself really comfy. It is so special to have relaxing Friday evenings, after the rushing around of the week.
  7. I am so blessed for the opportunity to have a family celebration party for my Mum’s birthday. These celebrations are small, we enjoy a lovely meal together, and a yummy cake. Mighty mouse still runs around turning all the lights off before we sing a Happy Birthday song. It is so exciting.
  8. I am so blessed that Mr. Serious cooked us Sunday breakfast of bacon and egg rolls, it always taste better when somebody else cooks it. Whilst it is so good that Mr. Serious wants to learn to cook, it is a wonderful life skill to have.
  9. I am so blessed that the boys were excited about having a family day on Sunday, they still want to spend time with us, so we made the most of it and went to the Immigration Museum. Which made me think we are just so blessed to live in a country of freedom and opportunity.
  10. I am so blessed to wake up feeling joyful and having a sense of wonder. I look forward to getting stuck into my day, and expecting joyful moments, even though I know there will be some  hiccups and hardships to be faced.

Another lovely week has gone by, full of wonderful moments and a few challenging moments to remind me not to take the good times for granted.

All is well!

Ten Blessings of the Week!

IMG_0955

The previous week has been a quiet week, full of illness so  I spent most of my time home looking after my son with a cold. Unfortunately as soon as he got better,  I went to work on the weekend coming down  sick with a gastro bug, only to end up in bed feeling sick and miserable myself. However before going to work on Saturday Morning, I took my self on an Artist’s Date to the Finders Market at the old Exhibition Buildings.  I walked around admiring the wonderful crafts being sold. The place was full of colour, creativity and beautiful creations. I could have easily spent more time there. That is life up and down! Here are my Ten Blessings of the previous week:

  1. I am so blessed to simply be alive and breathing.
  2. I am even more blessed to be able to stay home and care for my youngest son Mighty Mouse when he is not well.
  3. I am blessed that I have access to a doctor and health services when myself or family are ill.
  4. I am blessed that even when life feels a little like drudgery, there are always small pleasures like a hot shower,or a cup of tea, or simply a quiet moment curled up in a comfy arm chair.
  5. I am blessed that I have paid employment, it allows me to afford the life I enjoy, and still be available to look after my boys and be their for them when they need me.
  6. I am so blessed that people enjoy me wearing a pink flower in my hair. The pink flower brightens up my mood, and it continues to surprise me by how many people comment on how lovely the pink flower in my hair is. A simple ordinary pink flower can brighten up an individual’s day, and put a smile on their faces. I think that is amazing.
  7. I am so blessed that I enjoy looking out my front window, seeing the clouds roll by, the trees dance in the wind, making a strange whooshing musical sound, whilst my doors choose to sing a rattling sound.
  8. I am so blessed that I enjoy the smell of my candle burning, and the sweet smell from that gently wits under my nose. It also makes this delightful cracking noise, so it reminds me of the sound of fire. It gives me a sense of warmth and peace.
  9. I am so blessed that I got to go to my oldest son, Mr Serious’s school church service with him, the theme was growing in unity.
  10. I am so blessed that I was able to attend my Toastmaster’s meeting, and listen to some informative educational speeches, these have inspired me to want to improve and do more in my roles. I also admire the Ice breaker speech that was given, that first speech it is so special, and it was so interesting. It was a lovely night, with lots of guest, everyone just taking on a role and contributing, the room was full of positive energy, and smiles.

Those were my Ten Blessings of the week, and looking back on it, it wasn’t as quiet as I thought. Lots of lovely experiences existed amongst the drudgery of dealing with sickness. It so easy to get stuck on the negative and forget about those lovely positives that bring so much joy into our lives.

Just reflect back on your past week or day. What Ten Blessings did you experience?  I would love for you to leave a comment.

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

It has been a week of ups and downs, some days a real struggle others a complete delight. Here are my Ten Blessing of the previous week:

  1. I am so blessed to have a bunch of bright red cheery Gerbera flowers  in a vase  on the table smiling at me.
  2. I am so blessed to be able to take time out of my mornings to do some journal writing.
  3. I am so blessed that my sever back pain, that made just sitting so painful has  gone away and was only a temporary condition.
  4. I am so blessed for my heat bag, made of rice, which I heated up in the microwave. It provided great pain relief for my back pain, it was amazing and it worked instantly.
  5. I am so blessed for all that rain, it is good to know that the garden is getting plenty of water, everything is so green, and I love seeing the little drops of water on a blade of grass just sparkling in the sunlight. Also have been enjoying the rainbows in the sky, I still get excited when I see a rainbow.
  6. I am so blessed to be able to go out for dinner to a lovely restaurant and catch with some old high school friends. It is so special to have lasting friendships.
  7. I am so blessed to have lunch with a wonderful group of ladies, and make new friends.
  8. I am so blessed for all the blogs and podcasts that I can read from the comfort of my home, especially curled up in my lounge chair with a rug over the top of me on these cold winter’s nights.
  9. I am so blessed to have delightful uplifting and relaxing music to listen to. I love how my favourite music can make me feel instantly good and motivated, or how it can slow things down making me feel relaxed and rested.
  10. I am so blessed for hot showers, sometimes it is the quickest way to warm up on these cold mornings.

It was a week with ups and downs. The downs being my back pain, and the ups being spending time with family and friends. It was full of enjoyable moments Lunches out with family and friends, dinner out and catching up with old friends. Movie night with my boys and hubby.  Even a tour of the McCelland Gallery and Sculpture Gardens which was so interesting.

Ten Blessings Of The Week!

IMG_0955

It has been some time since I have done this post, however I have a strong internal pull to go back to writing about it. It just has a way of lifting my spirits and making me feel grateful for my life. It is now July and the weather here is cold, the past week has been a mixture of some lovely blue sky winters day, and some downpour rainy wet days. So thankful I have a lovely pink umbrella to keep myself dry.

My ten blessings for the week are as follows:

  1. I am so blessed to enjoy each day in good health , surrounded by people I love, living a life full of opportunities.
  2. I am so blessed for supportive parents who picked up Mighty Mouse, having him at their place for a holiday. He enjoyed the sleep ins, the movies, and going out to see the possum. As usual my parents took super good care of him, and Mighty Mouse just loves his grandparents attention.
  3. I am so blessed that I get to go to Toastmaster meetings, this particular meeting I got to complete another project, as well finding out a really good reason to eat green leafy vegetables including broccoli. Apparently it is good for your health and preventing cancer because it is high in folic acid. You could have an orange if you wish, but I am allergic to them.
  4. I am so blessed to see my other son Mr. Serious catching up with a friend, and learning about how to do a radio show. It so good to see him enjoying himself.
  5. I am so blessed that Mr. Serious’s test went well, his eye sight remains the same. He still needs glasses, but there were not any changes so that is good.
  6. I am so blessed to catch up with my Mum for lunch and a look around the antique shops, she was really bright and perky, whilst the antiques prompted Mum to tell us lots of stories many I had not heard before.
  7. I am so blessed to be able to go to a Toastmasters learning day, it was good to get so many good ideas for my club officer role, and even learn a few things about social media. It was great to interact with others, and have interesting conversations. So glad I was not working that Saturday and able to go.
  8. I am so blessed to spend a day with my Hubby and Mr. Serious at the Truffle Festival. It was my first time tasting truffle, and it tasted all right it did add flavour to the dishes. It was also good to learn about truffles.
  9. I am so blessed to have been able to go out to dinner with a group of lovely ladies, enjoy delicious food, and enjoy uplifting and engaging conversations.
  10. Finally I am so blessed that I have wipers that work on my car, because I have really needed them this week during those downpours of rain, so as I could see where I was going. Sometimes it those simple things that make a big difference to the day.

After writing these Ten Blessings I have just realised what a social week it was, that makes me feel even happier because I am on annual leave from work. Having time off has allowed me to enjoy time with my boys on the school holidays, and enjoy myself by going out for lunch, and dinner catching up with people. It has also enable me to get along to the Toastmaster Club Officer training and learn lots of new things. Most of more it has been a lovely week of simply enjoying life, and trying out a new metallic pink nail polish.
